Just out of curiosity... Why do all Little League Baseball Player's Parents seem to think and/or believe that their children will make into Major League Baseball????

Exactly. They not only don't have to bounce the ball ("pitch" means something else in the real world, let's not start confusing the issue) but they have to chuck (not bowl) it into an area where the batter (not batsman) can club it out the stadium?

No wonder Jane Austen invented it one weekend because she couldn't get a game for Northanger 3rd XI because her leggies were a luxury and she couldn't work the ball off the square when at the crease - a far easier game...

My brother and I visited a batting cage while in Florida. It took him 2 swings to master it, then he took great pleasure in punching the ball repeatedly back at the hole from whence it came. He did it so effectively that he was warned off by a bloke from the shop.

Just to prove how easy it was he swapped to right-handed and did the same again - we left soon after - too easy.

Another bugbear for me is the RBI statistic. From what I can gather, if you're on the park when someone scores, you get one?

Jesus, how many must the umpires have? To say nothing of the crowd...
