Shit, some horrible news I just received by email literally following posting the above link. See below. Hello there, I am trying to get in touch with as many people as possible with some sad news about Paul fox of The Ruts. He has been taken very ill and diagnosed with an advanced and untreatable cancer of the lung, he may have only a few months left. I thought you would like to be informed of this if you hadn’t already heard. We are trying to organise a benefit gig for Paul. At the moment I am trying to find out who would be available and willing to do a performance or contribute in some way. We feel that not only would it make Paul very happy to see lots of old familiar faces but it would also be good to raise a little bit of much needed cash for Paul and his family at this time. We are looking at a date in July at the moment and as you can imagine trying to co-ordinate so many people and the finding of the venue and a date at such short notice is a tad difficult to say the least! So if there is anyway that you would be happy and able to help then it would be good to have a quick chat with you ASAP to see which dates would be suitable for you. Obviously time is of the essence as far as Paul goes. We do have a very special house band on hand with Rowland Rivron on drums, Lee Harris on guitar and Luke Gallagher on bass, they are available to learn whatever is needed and work with whoever needs them as backing or support. This will enable more people to do a guest turn even without their usual backing artists. The house band worked with several artists including TV Smith, Chris Spedding and The Blockheads at my recent charity event at the Hope and Anchor and went down a storm. If you could let me know your thoughts on this ASAP I would be very grateful,

Sarah, who sent me that, is trying to organise a gig at the Dome in Tufnell Park in July to raise funds. I'll try to help out but she's hoping that when it firms up as many people as possible will buy tickets in advance. I'll keep you posted.

I would guess about 50 GC, but not totally sure. Hopefully they'll get a good round-up of folks. It's all at a very early stage at the moment, but it would be nice if the thing pulled a decent crowd.

That's a great clip. Love the fact that the backing singer/probable girlfriend of Max is doing overtime on the vocals. Anybody fancy popping along to the BFI tomorrow for their gobshite fest on the punk years? I shall be throwing in my customary tuppeny-happenyworth.
