poker - betting the size of the pair

do people do this eg they get a pair of 8's and bet 80 or 800 or 8000 depending on the size of the blinds?

I dont but wouldnt put it past people.

btw wouldnt it be bets like

88 880 8800

it was a comment by aces trumper. any betting pattern you can pick up will give you an edge.
