Where to get betting quotations?

Hey there...quite new to all this..
But already have a Q!

Does anyone knows where betting agencies get there quotations from?

you know, those numbers they give u

e.g Germany-Ecuador

Germany wins 1.1
Draw 2.25
Ecuador wins 4.35

How do they get to those numbers? Thanks for trying to help me out

Betandwin.com is a good example if you go and have a look in the football section

I think the question is "How do betting firms get their prices?"

Guess I'll have to leave this to someone who works for a betting firm. Anyone?

Surely someone from BetDirect must be on here? They'd be a good place to start.

There are various ways :

1/ Use experience and knowledge to form your opinion and price the market up.

2/ Use a predetermined tissue and adjust to suit

3/ use betfair or other firms prices

ok. in the case i would like to start up a betting agency myself..am i supposed to copy from another one? Can't be, so what's the solution, where do you find those betfairs (if i need them on a daily basis)?

betfairs can be found at the bottom of the garden I believe.

A lot of books, including the Brick and Mortar ones, pay for their lines from oddsmakers.

Not a lot of people wants to answer that question though I have noticed you have asked that many times patrickstar.

I think you would be surprised if you worked for a bookmaker for a couple of years....

That's maybe not such a bad idea.. kind of like an undercover op..

Would it really take a couple of years? Would I not have got most of the surprise by mid morning coffee break on my first day?

To be fair it would probably only take you half an hour though you would have to see through all the crap. We odds compilers like to make it sound more complicated than it is

Not sure that would work with yours nor my surname. I think that might be qualification number one for Skybet actually so that rules us out
