Exactly. They not only don't have to bounce the ball ("pitch" means something else in the real world, let's not start confusing the issue) but they have to chuck (not bowl) it into an area where the batter (not batsman) can club it out the stadium?
No wonder Jane Austen invented it one weekend because she couldn't get a game for Northanger 3rd XI because her leggies were a luxury and she couldn't work the ball off the square when at the crease - a far easier game...
