Re: Vindons Selections Well yesterday had it’s ups and its downs, with Keepitsecret drifting right out to 4/1 which was a cracking bet really when looking at how it won, the other winner Classi Maureen won quite well in the end backed all the way into evens. The downs for the day was my well fancied nap which could only manage third in the end which I thought was a very poor effort and also my last win bet Mont Etoile just getting beat a short head which was frustrating. All the same its onwards and upwards.
Looks some interesting racing today in my opinion with one or two horses running that I like which could be quite useful but not a day for any mega betting. I’ve only studied the day meetings for now as I had a late finish and got an early start at work so hopefully I can get time to study the night meeting tomorrow afternoon. Redcar
This don’t look a bad meeting today with the first race being quite an interest for me as Sparton Duke (2.30 - 1 point EW) took my eye here. This horse was quite well fancied at Goodwood last time out when being backed into 4/1 but ran quite green showing all the signs of needing the run. This looks an easier race today and should improve leaps and bounds for the first run, the thing that does take my eye a lot about this horse is that it holds two Group entries at the Curragh in the near future, plus he’s entered up in the Redcar two year old trophy. If this horse can’t win this race then he will have no chance of getting a lot of prize money out of his future entries. At forecasted odds of 10/1 this looks a good bet and should make the frame. In the 3.30 event it may be worth giving Sea Rover (3.30 - 2 points) another chance after only managing 5th at York in a sprint. This horse looked a good prospect when winning on debut at Thirsk and then running an even better race but only managing second place at Newcastle where there has been some good form come out of the race. This step up to seven furlongs should suit the horse a lot better and looks the sure improver to me in this field. The one for me though will take a lot of stopping today is Soccer jackpot (4.30 - 2 points) whom should go off at a short price but again using the word ‘should’ win this race as he won going away at Beverly eventually winning by 5 lengths to ‘Medici pearl’ who then went on to win next time of asking. Soccerjackpot has got in off a good weight here and should make the most off his current mark of 77. Salisbury
Moving on to Salisbury now where I think the horse which is of most interest is running in the 3.15. The John Gosden trained Cape Cobra ( 3.15 - 1 point) is reappearing here after a decent run at Newmarket when coming 4th. The reason I say this horse is interesting is because this horse is a full brother to the Japanese trained and the 2005 golden Jubilee winner Cape of good hope, so breeding looks outstanding in a race of this nature. Cape of good hope also ran a creditable race at Newmarket on its debut before winning a harder race next time out, if this Cape Cobra can run anything like his brother I’m sure he can take this race without a dought. Obviously the question mark is if the horse as any kind of ability like his older brother. John Gosden has a good strike rate around this track which is worth noting, in the last 5 seasons he has recorded a very nice 45% sr with his 3 year olds. At decent odds its worth having a little bet on this horse but as I say it could be best watched. Lastly on this card I would have one more bet on Ronaldsay (4.15 - 2 points) who won a decent handicap at York off a 6lbs lower mark than this mark today. She still put a creditable run in a listed race at Kempton but the ground couldn’t have been ideal for the filly, she bounced back to form with a small margin second but maybe the distance just stretched her that day. This small drop in distance and in a suitable grade should see her beat these rivals today although the Stoute horse won very easily last time out but I’m sure this horse has got more to offer. Sea rover 3.30 Redcar (NAP) 2 points
SoccerJackpot 4.30 Redcar (NB) 2 points
Thank you
