Sergio Ramos at 66/1 looks worth a few quid (bet 365). If Villa isn't given a starting place I can see Spain's goals (and there may not be that many of them) being spread around. Ramos is a big threat from set pieces, scored seven for Madrid last season.

Anyone had a look at SPIN's markets? It's 25pts for the top team scorer, 10pts for second and 5 for third. Any further down and you're nilled.

I like Tevez at 7. I was going to take Tote's 11/2 but I think the spread bet works out better!? He's been given the nod for their opening game ahead of Messi, Crespo and Saviola. Seems he's firmly in the managers plans. The fact that Cruz/Crespo could well be alternating alongside him is a big plus. Hard to see him being outside of their top three.

Nice to have the first one in the bag Dindane came good for me last night. He made me sweat though, missing that sitter, then having to re-take the penalty. Strange he didn't take the second pen for his hat-trick but it worked out fine. Big up to Drogba for getting himself suspended.

The Gerrard bet still has big chances. Two or three others still have a squeak as well. I would love a goal each from Essien and Srna tonight. Shame about Santos getting injured. Frustrating when you lump on a 6/4 shot at 4/1 and that happens.

Should also apologise for that link about Cruz and Tevez starting the first game. Not sure what skysports were playing at there. At least Tevez has had some action now and got on the scoresheet.

Yeah, I was pleased with that Dindande double too.

Croatia 1 (Srna) Australia 2 (Bresciano 2) would be a handy scoreline!

It's amazing what he has to do to keep up with Crespo. I'm half expecting the twat to claim one from the bench. Anyone fancy writing to FIFA about this travesty?

His goals per game ratio was as good as Torres' for Atletico last season, despite spending most of his time on the wing. He certainly has an eye for goal.
looking like a top call

could do with the mexicans scoring two now to settle the bet!

I was implying his last two goals. That one maybe he has claims for but the one against Serbia he was nowhere near. Still doesn't stop him celebrating as if he's just gone past six men and rounded the goalie

i laid of 1/3 of the profit because of the "crespo gets all 50-50 calls" scenario

good call though ilunga.

The 33/1 tended to take a back seat when I was dreaming of the 900/1 Golden Boot winner. If he'd taken that chance at 1-0 he would have been disputing favouritism

We should really have kopped the full stakes there but I won't complain. I'm not taking Crespo off my dart board for another day or two though

I just need the 10/1 Gerrard now for a nice hat-trick.
