| I never bet on my team and hopefully i'm not about to give them the kiss of death here but Dundee are my bet of the day. Beaten QOS 3/4 in the last 2 seasons at home (the other we chucked being 2-1 with 10 mins to go then absolutely disintegrated in that last 10 mins). 4/5 or 8/11 looks a fair price to me. Gretna @ 8/11 - away from home is the only thing that makes me wary but Gretna have been powering along again in the last few weeks. There were rumours (and indeed a fan i spoke to confirmed this) that Gretna felt promotion this year was too early and they went through a sticky patch in november - however - they appear to have firmly got through that period and are firing on all cylinders again. Add to that Clyde are in a tad of disarray with their captain - and arguably best player - having signed a pre contract agreement with Dundee yesterday and we are also after another player of theirs (Imrie), and St Johnstone have put in a bid for their best defender - there is unrest amongst the players and the fans are certainly pissed off. I know this as i speak to a Clyde fan who can't quite believe they are as high in the league as they are now. All in all, everything points to an away win for me. Falkirk have been impressive recently - my pal saw them against Hibs last week as a neutral and was very impressed by what he saw. They have an attacking style and a pleasure to watch. I generally accept that backing odds on away from home is the road to the poor house but 2/5 seems attractive against a Berwick team who are in the 3rd division and have a home record of w6 d2 l2 at home. Admittedly - Falkirk's away record of only 4 wins doesn't look great but having saw them v Dundee United away last week and smashing 5 past them for an easy 5-1 victory - the odds seem fair even allowing for a possibly poorer quality of pitch. Finally - a speculative punt - Airdrie @ 5/1 ish. I think they are in a false position in the league having seen them 3 times this year. The 1st division is a tight league and they could easily be higher. Shocks are generally few and far between in the scottish cup unlike our english counterparts but the only shock for me was this rather large price! Any views anyone...............please shoot me down if you disagree!
