Default German Television Production

I thought they were supposed to be a first-world country?

1) Why can't they cope with a pitch half in shade and half in sunshine? The good old British manage to switch between light and dark parts of the pitch easily enough with the use of some sort of filtering equipment I presume, so why can't the Germans? In yesterday's Mexico/Iran game there were times when the red-shirted Iranians seemed to appear out of nowhere. FIFA have even mooted the idea of closing retractable roofs to solve the 'problem' FFS.

2) Why oh why do they insist on zooming-in on a player in a crossing position on the near-side of the pitch? The whole point of such situations is to be able to see what is happening in the penalty-area, not a close up of the winger's boots.

agreed, it's been crap.

also they seem to favour extremely long shots where the individual players are unidentifiable

They're apparently closing the roof for the Korea-Togo game today. Poor old Graham Poll

Why do we have to stoop down to Betfair forum levels and make this a nationalistic issue? This has nothing to do with German TV.

Hopefully, Stoichkov doesn't mind me quoting him from a previous thread:
"I know the person in charge of the media arrangements at one of the stadia, and so have an idea of what is happening this year. Fifa have outsourced it all to a specialist company. This company provides around 20 different camera feeds, and the individual broadcasters can use them how they wish. There is a standardised package if broadcasters wish to use it, but also they can choose to show camera shots as and when they wish. Presumably our broadcasters will be using this option, and that may well account for the difference between BBC and ITV.

"HBS crews are doing their best to deal with the problems created by the shaded areas of the pitch at
some venues; seven engineers (shaders) are assigned to each OB Van to work exclusively on this matter.
Given the huge range of contrast, some brief exposure issues are unavoidable but yesterday’s production
was much improved in this regard."

Colo, I assumed that the German TV companies would be responsible for the pictures we see. If that is wrong, then of course I apologise for any offence caused.

My ire perhaps should be directed at FIFA for selling to these clowns without checking their expertise first.
