The Lockdown Diary - DAY 48

Posted 11th May 2020 at 11:24 by Cormack
Son's kitchen skills are now developing in the same way as daughter's - they're both starting effectively from scratch but are now doing what were novel basics as routine basics. They still clean no dishes, no pans, no eating irons, no utensils. I'll accept that.

For now.

The Lockdown Diary - DAY 47

Broke ranks today. Mum hasn't seen grandkids nor great-grandkids since lockdown through shielding on every piece of the equation. She's also in lockdown as she's 83, and she has solely my brother and the phone for company. Consequently, to at least do something about it, Mrs C would take the kids from door to door (5 miles) to have some outdoor socially-distanced contact. Given the premise of what we were going to do, Mrs C gave me a free pass to come with.

I have outlasted Brian Clough's tenure at Leeds.

I had a bad, no, an off night on #44 and so was unable to sleep until late on. Nothing extravagant, just a blip that would affect me come the morning. Caught up a couple of hours' sleep mid-afternoon after getting a bit of work out the way and prepared for a four-day weekend.

Son asked me what happens if he's set work by school on the Bank Holiday. My reply which amused him was 'you won't see it because you're off'....

The Lockdown Diary - DAY 44

Mrs C has put out coconut bird feeders for a robin we have. I'm not a fan of robins, they're horrible territorial beasts, but you have the weight of the Christmas card industry against you in the same way you do with bears, who of course don't playfully try to steal pic-a-nic baskets but instead are several hundred pounds of killing machine.

The thing about this is that we have magpies about as well. Interesting fact about magpies - they're too heavy for their legs to support them...
