The Lockdown Diary - DAY 121

Posted 7th August 2020 at 15:18 by Cormack
Wednesday 23 July - DAY 121

Mrs C was on multiple calls so work would be sporadic at best, so I booked me a day off and pottered about a bit, which was pleasant.

Another game down at the club despite inter-club restrictions - 20 over thrash, me on the book again. Son got out when not ready to face after looking dead set and not realising that he could step away.

The Lockdown Diary - DAY 120

Posted 7th August 2020 at 15:04 by Cormack
Tuesday 22 July - DAY 120

No internet. No engineer contact. I rang to find out I’d wasted four days because despite serving 31 days’ notice, the internet was turned off after 10 working. We had not asked for that (indeed the very opposite - keep us on until crossover). So, to recap...

We’ve been at home now for some 120 days and the strain on the web connection is palpable. Stone Age phone of mine notwithstanding, there are on any given day eight or nine other...

The Lockdown Diary - DAY 119

Monday 21 July - DAY 119

Quiet day, limited work manageable as still no main internet - the 72 hours callback deadline approaches. Mrs C is on a busy week for online calls and so limits my own hotspot access.

Another good net in the evening, the boy's game continues to bed in and he is enjoying himself no end. He is a better batsman than I ever was – I accrued runs, but he scores. I had a few shots but he has a more complete book. He has eye and timing as well whereas...

The Lockdown Diary - DAY 118

Posted 7th August 2020 at 13:25 by Cormack
Sunday July 20 - DAY 118

Was offered and accepted scorer duties in an intraclub 40 over game, and played a blinder. 80 overs, went to the wire, nigh on 350 runs scored, ball by ball and for a Crohnie diabetic, managed to do it all without the need to use the services. That's the equivalent of that Atherton innings in South Africa...

Runs and catches for my lad and he was pleased with himself and rightly so. I flaked in the evening and rightly so. No move for Mum,...

The Lockdown Diary - DAY 117

Posted 6th August 2020 at 01:03 by Cormack
Saturday July 19 - DAY 117

Did precious little as it was Saturday, the internet is still down and the dying embers of my phone’s own paltry monthly phone allowance winnowed away.

Mum continues to waiting for news on the possible move on #118 but the lack of concrete statements is somewhere between annoying and disheartening.
