Tournament Matchup -

I really like Carlos Franco over Kirk Triplett. In seven or eight tournaments they've played in together, Triplett has only notched a better score in two -- one of those a one-stroke win. It's almost even odds on the two...in fact, I found Triplett the favorite at one book.

Good luck...

interesting article on thegolfchannel about harrington saying he was gonna withdraw from this, but cas he gave a commitment to the orginisers he feels obliged to play, but he wud rather be chilling bk home most of the guys that wer in contention on the final day must be worth taking on esp harrington ohern and stricker in matchbets

that article has been mentioned, i agree with your reasoning although I don't consider O'Hern was seriously contending at Winged Foot, Harrington and Stricker are worth risking.

Where has the article been mentioned -- in the gold forums?

At any rate, if a golfer says he'd rather be home chillin', then he probably isn't a great bet, especially if he is the favorite. Personally, I think picking outrights is one of the toughest things to do. I'd rather wait until after the cut, then pick a golfer with pretty good form that is only two or three strokes off the lead. You might not get the golfer with as good of odds as you did before the tournament, but you should still get decent odds.

Was sweating this for awhile but Triplett's 9 on a par 4 bailed me out! Gotta love two shots in the water followed by a four putt (first putt was from less than 10 feet out!) Thank you Triplett! Plus, I had him to lose to Padraig Harrington in a 2nd round matchup, so it felt especially nice to see him card the 9 (although that bet was pretty secure even before that hole).

For 3rd round matchups, I like Curtis over Coceres and Bart Bryant over KJ Choi. I also threw a couple bucks on JB Holmes at 18-1. I followed his round one and he could have easily been at -6 or -7 (instead of -4). His drives were consistently 330+ yards. He has six strokes to make up which is a long shot, but if he plays just a touch better, he could do it...

Good luck!
